John Ferrillo

John Ferrillo joined the Boston Symphony as Principal Oboe in 2001. He was the Principal Oboe of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra from 1986 until 2001, and before that was a member of the San Francisco Symphony.

Mr. Ferrillo has taught and performed at the Aspen and Waterloo festivals, has taught at the National Orchestra Institute, the Mannes Bach Institute and served on the faculty of the Juilliard School of Music. He joined the faculties of the New England Conservatory and Boston University's School of Music in 2002, and also teaches at the Tanglewood Festival.

He has been featured as a soloist with numerous ensembles in the Northeast, and in the 2004-2005 season performed the Strauss Oboe Concerto with James Levine and the Boston Symphony.
