Karen Jung serves as co-principal of the Midcoast Symphony Orchestra and is the Music Librarian and Coordinator of Research and Instruction Services at Bowdoin College. She received a master’s degree in cello from the Indiana University School of Music.

Prior to coming to Maine, Jung taught cello and graduate research courses at Southeastern Louisiana University, and was an active music adjudicator and clinician in the New Orleans and Gulf Coast areas. She performed professionally in recording sessions, chamber groups, orchestras, and national Broadway touring productions, and served as principal cellist of the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra. Jung can be heard on nationally-released recordings of music ranging from classical and folk music to new age and contemporary Christian music.
