Violin

Phoebe began playing violin in her school music program at the age of eight, and developed a love for orchestra, as well as teaching, throughout middle and high school. She completed her Bachelors of Science in music education from Hartwick College, and her Masters of Music (with an emphasis on music education) from New Mexico State University.

Phoebe has worked with students in a variety of settings, including public schools, community arts organizations, after school programs, and through private lessons. She currently holds the position of Director of Strings and teaches 4th-12th grade strings at Maine Coast Waldorf School in Freeport, ME.  One of her proudest professional accomplishments is starting the orchestra program at Apopka High School (Apopka, FL), and presenting the school’s first ever orchestra concerts with her students for their school community and families.

In addition to teaching, Phoebe performs in her local communities as a violinist, including in chamber ensembles, community orchestras, and as a pit orchestra musician.  While she enjoys performing, teaching music (especially orchestra) is her true passion.

Phoebe joined the MSO after moving to Maine in 2022. She enjoys Portland's vibrant arts scene and is an avid hiker (she finished the Catskill, NY high peaks challenge in 2023 and looks forward to tackling more peaks!) She also enjoys spending time on the water and in the woods, gardening, reading and crafting.
